The IME evaluation of an injured party that utilizes a third party, board certified independent medical professional to issue an unbiased opinion on the injury. An IME is also used to resolve a dispute between parties and sometimes you could have multiple IME’s to resolve the dispute.

Injured workers who are receiving TTD benefits are entitled to a one time IME with the doctor of their choosing. At the IME appointment all the patients records will be reviewed in-depth by the doctor to provide a thorough opinion. The doctor will then meet with the patient to complete the evaluation. The doctor will later provide a narrative and give their independent opinion on the injury. The doctor may be questioned if there is confusion regarding the report or conflicts between multiple IME reports.
